Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is part of four generations of the Robertses to reside in the Atlanta area, starting by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father was a young man when he became interested in theater. He acted on at the Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions around Atlanta. After joining the airforce In 1953, he starred in an airforce production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 1955. Their baby son Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter was a student at Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana following his departure from the Air Force in 1957. Walter began his work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter and Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning show on local television for kids known as Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, a project that they funded themselves. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou founded the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted six years. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) as well as Julia (also called Julie) at the time.
