Laura Linney is an American actor, who became famous for her portrayal of vulnerable but strong characters. Born to a renowned playwright's father, and raised by a single mother who worked in the field of nursing, she began to take an interest in theater while having summers spent with her father and eventually pursuing a degree in acting first in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. When she graduated at Brown University she made making her Broadway debut soon afterward. Within two years of the time, her debut film was released and the following year, her debut on television. In the years since, she's performed in many films and stage and TV productions. She has been nominated for three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her career. Though she was awarded numerous prizes over the years, theater has always been her first passion.
